Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner from JLM can save you a small fortune.
Since 2009 almost all diesels will have had a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) fitted to enable up to an 80% reduction in soot emmisions.
A DPF is basically a trap that catches soot particles in the exhaust system. The soot is then burnt off in the exhaust, called regeneration. On long journeys this happens automatically because the exhaust will reach high temperatures. On short journeys however the ECU will need to make adjustments to the engine to help the exhaust reach a high enough temperature to burn off the soot deposits. Due to stop start driving in towns this isn't always possible and this is where problems can occur.
If the regeneration does not complete, the DPF warning light may light up to show that the Diesel Particulate Filter is partly blocked. If this happens you may be able to burn off the soot by driving faster (within the speed limits) for a period of 10 minutes or more. If this does not work or keeps happening, then the soot will build up and cause failure of the filter. This is where it can become expensive.
JLM diesel particulate filter cleaner will help prevent your filter from getting blocked. How does it Work
JLM DPF cleaner uses a catalyst to stick to the particles of soot during combustion, this lowers the temperature at which they can be burnt off. This additive also increases the fuel burn temperature which increases the exhaust temperature so that as the temperature rises inside the soot trap, the soot is burnt off and the filter is regenerated. BENEFITS
- Longer lasting filter system
- Passive regeneration over a wider range
- Fast acting
- Saves paying for diagnostic time
- Cleans blocked filters (first stage warning)
- Full filter regeneration in town driving
All you have to do is pour one can into your fuel at every 6000 miles and every service to save yourself spending hundreds of pounds on a new filter.
